The finalists have responded to my questions:
1) You’re stranded alone on an island. You will never leave it. Ever. But it is a fantasy island of sorts. You only get one choice though. Your choices are:
(a) A guy of your dreams to spend the rest of your life with on the self-sustaining island. It can be a celebrity or someone you already know. His real life personality also accompanies him if this option is chosen.
(b) A fantasy department store that will conjure up and give you free of charge the latest fashion, cosmetics, food etc but not anything that can aid you in escaping from the island. That includes another human being. But pets are allowed.
Which would you choose and why?
BooBooKittyFcuK666
not just because he reads my xanga or anything, but it would have to be to spend the rest of my time with Mart … my other half. I wouldn’t have married him if I hadn’t have wanted to be with him forever. Christ I’m a sap am I not? – also although I do have a materialistic streak, what’s the point of shopping if you have no-one to show it all to?
carrot_red
Heaven is a lonely place without loved ones. It would be with my boyfriend Chris who is the first guy who fully understood me so far.
delightfullywhimsical
ah, the classic desert island question. without even having to think about it, the answer to that would be (a). By nature, i’ve always been a very social person; that is, without the company of others i get very lonely and withdrawn. besides, who wouldn’t want to spend their life with the person they Love?
frejaluna
That’s easy. I’d pick (a). I mean, what good is a store with hot fashions if there is no one to take them off, err, I mean wear them for!?! Besides that, if the island becomes NON self-sustaining, I can kill the other person for food.
imahima
I’ll take the man of my dreams, please. Preferably one who is good at finding food and can sing. I’ll get knocked up and pop a few out so we won’t be lonely. He can find the food and at night he can sing to me around the campfire while I play coconut shell bongo drums. That’d wouldn’t be that bad….unfortunately my kids would either die out or have to resort to incest in order to keep our happy little civilization going.

Hmmm…. stranded on an island, huh? Geez, that’s pretty simple. I woud have to say… the guy. I don’t wanna be stranded on an island by myself, I’ll go crzy. It’s kind of like that movie w/ Tom Hanks…”Castaway” He went crzy and started talking to a damn ball. With the store, I could get a tv, books, food, entertainment, and/or whatever I wanted. But, nothing beats a warm body next to you. Everyone needs some lovin’ and don’t say that they store can provide you with stuff! Cuz, it’s not the same thing! = ) So… With a mate, we could survive on the island by ourselves…
secretcharmz
If I were stranded alone on an island, never being able to leave it, I’d choose to be with my fiance. Living in paradise with no worries would be great.
Having a fantasy department store would be excellent, but not having another human being to communicate with is pointless. With my fiance, at least we can procreate on the island and create our own society of little secretcharmz’s running around the island.
TorontoGirl
I’d of course choose my fiance, Ryan, since as BooBoo said, there’s no reason to have accepted the proposal if I wouldn’t be happy for life with him. Besides, he’s a whole package –> great to look at, great conversation, hilarious, warm and ingenious.

this is easy — my hubby, cuz he is the guy of my dreams. before i met him, i was happy being alone. i had become an independent woman who could take care of her own, but deep down inside, despite all the “playing” that i did with so many men, i really wanted to be committed. BUT i had to find the perfect guy. and perfect means perfect for my standards – not cosmo’s, not society’s, not my friends’, nor my family’s, but my standards. of course he’d have flaws, but he had to match up to everything important that I wanted. jimmy is strong physically yet emotionally sensitive. he’s kind, devoted, gentle, caring, supportive, athletic, generous, handy, intelligent, tall, fit, and oh so handsome. that killer smile always brightens my day! he gives great massages & foot rubs, bakes yummy cupcakes, buys me flowers all the time, makes romantic wknd plans, sends the sweetest txt messages, says “I love you” everyday, buys me awesome gifts that i can actually use!, is a great listener, always holds my hand, and brings out the best in me. he makes me want to be a better person because he deserves the best. granted some of these things i mentioned are material… but if you take it all away, i still have an amazing guy!
yardenxanthe
I’d choose A and choose my husband to come with me because I already know how well I get along with him and I never get sick of hanging out with him.
2) If money is no object, what car would you drive and why?
BooBooKittyFcuK666
difficult one for me as I don’t drive … so I would have to say a water powered convertible Beetle. I love the style of Beetles, and if money was no object then someone could invent me a water-powered one and then we would save the environment for a bit.
Btw. I love animals and small children, and I hope to spend the rest of my life following in the footsteps of Mother Theresa!
carrot_red
I like fast cars, it would be a toss up between the Porsche Carrera or a red Ferrari.
delightfullywhimsical
if money were no object…well, if money really were no object, i could have multiple cars so it’s a bit of a flawed question, but i’m going to go with the toyota prius. it’s not very sporty or anything, nor is it remarkably “cute” but it gets 51mpg and besides gas being ridiculously expensive, i can console myself with the thought that i’m doing less damage to the environment than the people around me. unless they all drove the same car as me…damn, i can’t stop thinking of other potential situations!. actually, i’ve always wanted to ride a motorcycle…
frejaluna
I’ve already owned the car I want: ’68 Firebird. The reason: It’s sentimental.
imahima
2. I actually don’t know how to drive and I’ve only been in a car maybe once in the past 6 months. I know nothing about them so I conferred with my friends and we agreed that nothing is classier or American than the Cadillac.
Lan526
I would want a Land Rover… I love traveling and being outdoors…going camping, fishing, and etc. So, this car would be practical for that. Plus, I have a lot of gfs that I need to drive around. I love my friends and I’m always around them. So, why not choose a car that will fit all of them in!
secretcharmz
If I could any car, and money were no object, then it would be the 2003 Ferrari Enzo
Why? Cus its HOT, SLEEK, FAST, has 7800 rpm, can go from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds and most of all, it COSTS $643,330!!!!
TorontoGirl
As for the second… well, since when is money an object? There’s never been a time I thought I couldn’t buy something because money was the barrier. If I want it, I will find a way to get it… that being said, if I *wanted* an expensive car, I’d damn well make sure I’d get it… might take me awhile, but I’d manage it. Therefore, money is no object, and I’d drive the car I bought last summer. My economical little Sunfire.
volleygirl1
all the money in the world… i would buy a fully equipped handicap van for this family i know. their dad is handicapped, missing both legs from a bad car wreck. they can’t afford anything since the medical bills have wiped them out. the kids are so sweet. the family planned a road trip last summer but the accident occurred two months before their vacation. with this van, they could easily have dad go on the road trip. ——- wait… i change my mind!!! i’d buy that Ferrari that secretcharmz wrote about at $650k. then i’d sell it. i’d buy the van for the family and give them the rest. well, let’s be honest here… i’d have to keep about $20k to pay off some school loans & credit card debt! =)
yardenxanthe
I’d drive a classic muscle car like a late 60s Pontiac GTO because classic cars have a lot more personality than new cars, and if money was no object than it would be easy to maintain an old car.
Prize
I still haven’t decided although I know what Eechim has in store for the winner of Mr Xanga! So I’m going to ask the finalists whether they prefer something practical like a gift certificate or something daft and tacky like Dutch souvenirs and snacks? What do you prefer? Or do you have a suggestion? Nothing outrageous please!
Or how about something from MY STORE!
